The traditional hospital setting is not always the best for patients. Sometimes, they need to be taken care of at their home instead. If you are unfamiliar with how to do this, there are three steps that will help guide you through the process.
1) Make sure that you have all of the necessary equipment and supplies before starting your shift. This includes things like a wheelchair, bedside commode, medications, and meals on wheels kits.
2) Ask them what tasks they would like assistance with or want to be done around their house while they are unable to do it themselves (i.e., washing laundry).
3) Spend time getting to know your patient by talking about what’s going on in their life if possible so that they can feel more comfortable.
